5P Diagnostics · Advanced diagnostic technologies

Different measurements. One clearer picture.

Alongside laboratory results, FMDC uses three objective assessments: of the heart and vessels, of body composition, and of strength, balance and mobility, within its 5P approach.

01The 5P approach

Care built around the individual.

FMDC describes its medicine as a 5P approach. Across its materials, the same ideas return: care that moves beyond “one-size-fits-all”, that evaluates risk factors early, and in which you take an active part in decisions.

  • Individual context

Care takes into account each person’s own characteristics, environment and lifestyle.

  • Early evaluation

Risk factors are evaluated early, as part of a preventive approach.

  • Participation

You understand your results and take an active part in the decisions that follow.

Objective measurement is one way these ideas become concrete: data that can be read in context, and measured again to follow progress.

02Why measure

Different tools observe different dimensions.

Each assessment looks at a different aspect of health and adds measured data to the medical conversation.

Chapter 01

Vascular · Cardiovascular precision screening

MESI mTABLET

Non-invasive measurements that assess heart function and the condition of the vessels, with results added to your medical record.

MESI mTABLET system: blood pressure cuffs for arms and ankles, ECG leads and a pulse oximeter
MESI mTABLET, as pictured in FMDC’s brochure.
Four limbs, measured at the same time. Blood pressure is measured in both arms and both ankles simultaneously, so that differences between limbs can be analysed.

What it measures

014-limb blood pressure
Detects pressure differences between arms and legs, a sign of arterial narrowing.
02ECG
Heart rhythm and conduction.
03Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI)
Early detection of peripheral artery disease, before symptoms appear.
04Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV)
An indicator of arterial stiffness, used in estimating overall cardiovascular risk.
05Pulse oximetry
Blood oxygen level.
Duration
About 20 minutes
Report
Delivered the same day

Best combined with the Heart & Breathing Check-up, the 45+ panels or the Check-up 360°, where QRISK3, SCORE2, PLR, SII, VAI and CMI complete the vascular picture. See the check-ups

Chapter 02

Composition · Body composition & nutrition

Z-Metrix

Bio-impedance analysis that looks beyond weight and BMI: see what your weight is made of.

Z-Metrix bio-impedance analyser with four electrode leads
Z-Metrix, as pictured in FMDC’s brochure.

Composition

Fat mass
Fat distribution
Muscle mass
The state of muscle and protein
Visceral fat
Fat around the organs; cardiometabolic risk
Body cell mass
Metabolically active tissue; helps prevent muscle loss

Water

Hydration
Intra- and extracellular water: hydration, fluid retention, hidden inflammation

Cellular & energy

Phase angle
Cellular vitality and resistance to inflammation
Basal metabolism
The basic energy state of the body’s cells

With the dietitian

At FMDC, the Z-Metrix test is offered with a consultation with the dietitian. Measurements can be repeated to visualise progress and evolution.

Complete Nutrition Assessment: Z-Metrix combined with the Extended Check-up, plus vitamin B1, folate, FT3 and BMI. The measured visceral fat confirms the VAI and CMI calculated from your blood test.

Before the test

By appointment. No food for 2–3 hours, no intense exercise for 12 hours, empty bladder.

Not performed in patients with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, or during pregnancy.

Chapter 03

Movement · Musculoskeletal & postural assessment

KINVENT

Precise digital measurements in place of visual estimation: muscle strength, joint mobility and flexibility, with detailed analysis of balance and movement.

Pain-freeNon-invasiveSuitable for all

Results are compared with age- and sex-specific reference values, with measurable progress tracking throughout treatment. The report is delivered the same day.

Indications

Prevention of muscle loss (sarcopenia), fall-risk assessment (recommended over 65), rehabilitation follow-up, cervical and postural assessment (tension headache, neck and jaw pain), performance.

Six sensors

  • K-Plates

    Left/right weight distribution

    Postural balance, weight-bearing asymmetry

  • K-Push

    Maximal pushing force

Strength of a targeted muscle group

  • K-Pull

    Maximal pulling force

Traction or holding strength (e.g. hamstrings)

  • K-Move

    Range of motion

    Joint mobility and functional recovery

  • K-Bubble

    Pressure biofeedback

Fine motor control and core stabilisation

  • K-Grip

    Grip strength

Marker of overall strength and healthy ageing

Two levels of assessment

Mini Assessment
16 measures · K-Plates, K-Push, K-Move, K-Grip
Full Assessment
25–35 measures · K-Plates, K-Push, K-Pull, K-Move, K-Bubble, K-Grip

03Three views

Not three versions of the same test.

Each observes a different dimension. Which assessments are relevant depends on each person: not everyone needs all three.

04Check-up 360°

Measurement within a broader pathway.

The Functional Medicine Check-up 360° builds a picture from an extended blood panel and clinical measurements, then turns your scores into a personalized action plan, with a follow-up assessment at 3–6 months.

05Which assessment?

The right assessment depends on you.

There is no single test for everyone. Which assessment is relevant depends on your situation, and is best discussed with FMDC.
